Redesigning the toothbrush for sustainable manufacture
Briefed to redesign a household object and make it more sustainable, Vida is a modular manual toothbrush designed to last a lifetime

The handle and mount are both made from recycled aluminium and designed to last, minimising waste associated with a traditional disposable toothbrush

The heads and packaging have been designed to be recycled after use. The replaceable heads are made from silicone - a more durable and bacteria resistant alternative to nylon bristles which can also be down-cycled into silicone oil after use
Vida offers an accompanying replacement head subscription service utilising reverse logistics so that the manufacturer is responsible for the recycling of the heads and packaging and to prevent over-changing of the heads
Service Design Blueprint
The aesthetic of the brush is simple and timeless. The colour scheme is muted but varied enough to allow for customisation to give a sense of individuality and increase emotional connection to the brush

The children's range consists of brighter colours and further personalisation options are offered to further increase emotional connection to the brush and illicit a sense of responsibility
